About Us

Community Connections is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities and their families.  Many children with special needs live in a cycle of school and therapy with little opportunity for extra-curricular activity.  At the same time, families of children who are diagnosed with disabilities often lack a support network.  Community Connections was established in 2005 when Todd and Amy Denton (owners of Pediatrics Plus Therapy Services) and some of their staff saw that many children with disabilities did not have the opportunity to play sports and participate in the arts like their typically developing siblings and peers.  From this need, Community Connections was created to provide extra-curricular activities for children with disabilities and support for their families.

Community Connections has already served over 600 children and their families since we moved to North Texas is 2019. We work hard to provide extracurricular for our special needs community and support for their families, free of charge.

Our programs provide a safe and encouraging environment. They are designed to allow children build social skills, friendships, and self-esteem through the arts and physical activities.

We offer a built-in support system for families to connect and share stories and resources to help guide them on the journey of therapy/school/behavior/life.

We keep our overhead low by leveraging relationships within the community for meeting locations, volunteers, and support. Community Connections programs are offered in local gyms, studios, schools, churches in the community where neuro-typical children participate in the same activities! Volunteers come from local school teams and groups, civic organizations, club teams, and businesses.

In 2023 we offered 32 extracurricular programs for our families, with had 525 sign ups. We work hard to continue bringing value to our special needs community.
